The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department supports the longest-running municipal dance program in the country. To celebrate its 75th anniversary, the program has partnered with Jump-Start Performance Co. to present three evenings of creative expression. Sonya Jimenez, Jackie Rodriguez-Navar, Denise Guerra-Rios, and dance troupes Fandango and Alamotion will perform dances ranging from the classic to the contemporary, highlighting the contributions of the program’s founder and first teacher, Berta Almaguer. The title “En la Sombra de sus Pasos” refers to the students and teachers who follow in the shadow of Almaguer’s footsteps. $15 ($10 for students and seniors), 8pm Friday-Saturday, 3pm Sunday, the Sterling Houston Theater, 108 Blue Star, jump-start.org.
