San Antonio native and star in the series Supernatural, Jared Padalecki was overwhelmed by fans’ support at San Diego Comic-Con.
Over 7,000 fans at Sunday’s Comic-Con took to lighting candles promoting Padalecki’s "Always Keep Fighting" T-shirt campaign, according to the Huffington Post.
Padalecki first shared his battle with depression back in March with Variety upon the launch of his nonprofit, To Write Love on her Arms. The organization supports those struggling against depression, addiction and mental illness.
After the impressive shower of support, Padalecki thanked his fans that night on Facebook:
“Thank you. From the very bottom of my heart and my soul, thank you so much. I will never forget this day. I will never forget the love that I felt, and still feel. And, to everybody who held a light for me, please know that I hold my light for you. Though I happened to be the one sitting on stage, I am but one small light in a see of thousands. TOGETHER, we can and will make a difference! Keep letting your light shine. I will do the same. And, keep fighting. Always Keep Fighting.”
The star continues to face difficulties throughout his life. In May, Padalecki cancelled, abruptly, a planned appearance at JIBCON 2015, a fandom convention in Rome, Italy.
I need all of the love I can get right now. Please please give me a few seconds of your time and write me. #AlwaysKeepFighting— Jared Padalecki (@jarpad) May 16, 2015
However, he continues to offer his support to others like himself, telling Variety “This is what you need to do... start a conversation to hopefully destigmatize these things that people are — for no good reason — ashamed to have, and there’s no shame in it. I say constantly that there’s no shame in dealing with these things. There’s no shame in having to fight every day, but fighting every day."
