The 88th Annual Fiesta Oyster Bake will be held at St. Mary's University from 5-11pm Friday, April 16, and from 11am-11pm Saturday, April 17. The traditional feast will feature: 100,000 oysters (baked, fried and raw); 25,000 fried chicken breasts; 3,000 pounds of beef and chicken fajitas; 6,000 turkey legs; 6,000 hamburgers; 3,000 slices of cheesecake; 7,500 ears of corn; 2,500 pounds of sausage; and 21,000 gallons of beverages. A Taste of New Orleans takes place from 11am-11pm Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18 at Sunken Gardens Theater in Brackenridge Park. The "Taste" menu includes assorted gumbos, red beans and rice, shrimp Creole, étouffée, shrimp kabob, jambalaya, Cajun catfish, soft shell crab, crab au gratin, crab rolls, fresh crawfish boil, boudin, beignets, and a host of other tasty treats. A wide assortment of beverages is also available. The music puts the accent on jazz, but the musical rainbow ranges from toe-tapping Dixieland to pulsating Salsa; from Big Band to modern.
