Critic's Pick Release Date: 2011-04-07

Produced by URBAN-15, a local non-profit that celebrates music, movement, and media via performance and educational programming, INCOGNITO invites Fiesta-goers to “come as they aren’t” to an “electrifying, costumed event.” Set to live music by Grammy-winning quintet Brave Combo (whose musical style encompasses everything from salsa, rock, and polka to classical, zydeco, and blues), the masked ball channels the spirit of Brazil’s Carnival and includes a “spectacular floorshow” courtesy of URBAN-15’s very own Carnaval de San Anto, which readers may have seen lighting up the night at this year’s Luminaria celebration. Dress to impress: While masks will be available for purchase at the door, last-minute disguises don’t stand a chance in INCOGNITO’s costume contest, which rewards the cream of the crop with cold, hard cash. $30; tickets will not be sold at the door and must be purchased in advance from the Fiesta Commission Office (2611 Broadway, (210) 227-5191, fiesta-sa.org) or URBAN-15 Studios (2500 S Presa, (210) 736-1500, urban15.org). 8pm-midnight, La Villita Assembly Hall, 401 Villita.
