After 10 years, The Lodge in Castle Hills is shutting its doors. Chef and owner Jason Dady announced last week that his restaurant will hold its last service on New Year’s Eve, literally going out with a bang. Citing the changing dining scene, Dady said via Twitter and Facebook that fine dining is on its way out (“Fine dining is on life support and I don’t want to be here when it dies. We are gonna finish strong and then move on,” he wrote on September 1), and he’ll be instead focusing on his other ventures, the two Tre Trattorias, Two Bros BBQ Market, BIN 555 and the DUK Truck.
If you’ve got exquisite culinary taste but are irredeemably lazy, there’s a new service for you: Bike Waiter. Serving the downtown area, the service will deliver fare from restaurants like Madhatter’s, El Mirador, and Kate’s Frosting Next Door to your home or work. You can order through thebikewaiter.com and pay $3.99 for delivery. Owner Shane Broussard says the service should be ready to go this month. I’m hoping the weather will cool off a bit for the sake of his bikers and your food.
