First Course: Israeli culinary tour, truly Texas Mexican dinner and Hill Country Food Truck Festival

Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard (25195 Mathis) is giving diners a culinary trip to Israel with their Israeli Passport Event on Friday, June 13 at 7 p.m. Diners will stroll through a market setting sampling wine and olive oils with live music and a five course meal planned by Chef Chris Cook with Israeli wine pairings. NAO and The Twig Book Shop will welcome chef and CIA graduate Adán Medrano, author of cookbook Truly Texas Mexican, for a book signing, reception and three course dinner on Thursday, June 19 at 5:30 p.m at NAO (312 Pearl). Guests can meet Medrano with wine and hors d' oeuvres before the truly Texas Mexican dinner at 6:45 p.m. With assistance from Chef Medrano, Chef Geronimo Lopez and the Nao team will prepare a meal with recipes from Truly Texas Mexican including nopalitos con camarón, frijoles refritos with queso fresco, chile relleno lampreado and watermelon ice with blueberries with hojarascas. Luckenbach Texas is hosting the first annual Hill Country Food Truck Festival on Saturday, August 2 starting at 12 p.m. The festival will be a full day of wine, food and music benefitting the Texas Center for Wine and Culinary Arts. Many food trucks will be in attendance to serve a variety of fare and local wine is available to purchase by the glass or bottle. Tickets are $15 per person and free for kids under 12.
