First Course: Peachy happenings at Quarry Farmers & Ranchers Market and a new brunch spot

The Quarry Farmers & Ranchers Market (255 E Basse) is bringing in this year's crop of fresh Fredericksburg peaches on Sunday, June 29 and Sunday, July 6. Everything peachy will be offered from special fruit treats to at least seven or eight varieties of peaches from Engel Farms.

On June 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. shoppers can purchase handmade peach cobbler pie from Vintage Heart Farm, peach and amaretto sorbetto from A La Mode, peach shrub from Shrub Drinks and breakfast blue corn crepes with almond-tangelo mousse topped with peach jam from LocaVore food truck. Peach granola bone dog treats and peach banana peanut butter ice cream from Katie's Jar can be purchased for the pups.

Big Hops Gastropub (22250 Bulverde) will begin their Sunday brunch season starting this Sunday, June 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Handcrafted brunch items like chicken and waffles, chorizo benny and the classic biscuits and gravy will be served with mimosas, cidermosas and breakfast beers on tap.

National Fried Chicken Day is on Sunday, July 6 so to celebrate Max's Wine Dive (340 E Basse) is celebrating by offering their famous southern fried chicken marinated in jalapeño buttermilk with mashed potatoes, collard greens and Texas toast. Max's also has a gluten-friendly fried chicken option.
