The Vivaldi of wines

Wines from Becker Vineyards are the centerpiece of a dinner at Francesca’s, 16641 La Cantera Parkway, Thursday, December 8. Reception begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a 7 o’clock dinner. Vineyard owner Richard Becker has recently released his Le Quattro Stagione wines representing the four seasons: Dolcetto, Barbera, Sangiovese, and Nebiolo with Merlot. The wines will be paired with a four-course dinner, including buttered lobster and diver-scallop timbale, cumin-brined squab breast with peppered-pistachio crust, fennel seed-and pasilla de Oaxaca-dusted sea bass. Sweet pumpkin pie and toasted pecan flan are among the desserts. Cost is $95 plus tax and gratuity. For reservations, call 558-2253.

Build a gingerbread neighborhood

As kids, we bit off the heads of our gingerbread men, but at the workshop, “Create a Gingerbread House: Build a New Family Tradition,” you’ll have to decapitate the chimney. A Mom & Me workshop is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 10, at Le Peep, 19141 Stone Oak Parkway; cost is $35 for one parent and one child; additional children are $20 each. A Just for Grownups session is slated for 3 p.m., Sunday, December 11, at Flour Power Café, 11703 Huebner. Cost is $35. Register at or 698-3924.

Locally owned Wildfire Coffee Roasters has new hours: Monday-Thursday 7 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday 7 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
