“From Son Jarocho to Hip Hop: Cultural Afromestizaje Symposium and Concert” is a unique event that seeks to uncover variants of African and indigenous cultural expressions as “points of decolonial praxis within readings of Black, Chican@, Mexican American, and African American culture and history.” The event will feature visiting thinkers, activists, performers, and artists Bocafloja (Mexico City) and Krudas Cubensi (Cuba), as well as local educators/activists from in and around the forward-thinking hotbeds of UTSA’s cultural studies programs.
