Get Ready for Oktoberfest at Real Ale Brewing Co.

That magical time beer lovers thirst for is nigh upon us. That time of year when the air cools down, the leaves change color, and the beer flows like wine: Oktoberfest! The annual German festival, over which all others are modeled, is held from mid or late September to the first weekend in October, with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. Back in the “old country,” it started out as a way to honor a royal marriage in 1810.

But, closer to home, we use it as a way to celebrate Germanic heritage and their wonderful, wonderful beer. The Texas Hill Country is loaded with German culture and tradition, which explains why some of the best craft breweries in the area reside just a short drive north of us. This brings us to Real Ale Brewing Co. and their salute to Oktoberfest.

On Saturday, September 10, Real Ale Brewing Co., up the road in Blanco, will be holding a party unlike any other for Oktoberfest. The cornerstone will their newest draught-only Oktoberfest beer hitting taps that weekend in their tap room.

Since 1996, Real Ale Brewing Co. has been brewing beer “their way.” Taking
inspiration from the natural beauty that surrounds them, such as the Texas Hill Country, the Blanco River, and all of its wide-open spaces.

Tickets for the special event are $25 per person and come with four complimentary beer tickets. Parking is also included and a limited-edition Oktoberfest beer mug is also part of the package. Also, the first 50 designated drivers who reserve their tickets online will also get an Oktoberfest mug.

Eight beers will be on tap for the event and, as a nod to the German roots of
Oktoberfest, sausages (and veggie sausages) from Best Wurst will be served. The Polkasonics will be on hand to crank out the oompa tunes.

Real Ale's Oktoberfest will be from noon-5:00pm. Prost!
