Black Marble - ASHLEY LEAHY

Cold Cave, AKA icy, darkwave revivalist Wesley Eisold, is returning to San Antonio like a goth, Nietzsche-quoting prodigal son.

With a background in hardcore punk and noise, Eisold channels brooding, graveyard angst with sharp-as-glass yet atmospheric synthscapes that incorporate his harsher background while still honoring the genre’s 1980s roots. The music is gloomy like Nick Cave or Ian Curtis yet shares some of New Order’s delightfully blood-red, sanguine optimism. Since his start in 2007, Cold Cave has amassed a cult following, earning enough stripes to go on tour with the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain and Sonic Youth. This time around, the band is touring with Black Marble, their slightly more popular, lighter and brighter contemporaries.

Whether you wore your black lipstick in the 80’s or last weekend, you won’t have to travel far for a night of transportive, butcher-knife-in-a-frozen-pond-near-a-cemetery sounding, synth-filled fun.
