Returning home after a successful tour, Ghost Police’s winning second EP has been released, courtesy of the hardworking folks at Trends Die. They’ve also made it available on vinyl, entirely suited to the band’s pleasing throwback punk sound. On the blasting single “Machine Gun Blues” and the rapid-fire “Fix Me,” a skillfully executed breakdown is GP’s only concession to post-hardcore sensibilities. The longer “Tragic Magic” sounds immediate without seeming as if it was actually penned this century, but for those who long for the old, raw sounds of the angry and innocent, Steven Remegio’s strangulated vocals and Cameron Taylor’s plunking, hammering guitars will hit the sweet spot. Catch them live October 30 at Limelight with Babylon Breakers, Otonana Trio, Gelatine and Scumacide
