Restaurants across the state will be participating in the GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up next week, July 25-31, when a portion of participating eateries will donate a portion of their proceeds from this week to local food banks. Local restaurants participating include Auden’s Kitchen, Bistro Vatel, Cappy’s, La Gloria, Los Barrios, Lüke, Tre Trattoria, Vela, and Zocca. So make reservations to dine local and help out the community. Plus, you can sign up to win Texas prizes — everyone loves free stuff.
Mark Bliss, who founded Silo on Austin Highway, is returning from his hiatus and opening a new restaurant in Southtown. Construction on Bliss is already underway and it’s slated to open in November. The restaurant will serve contemporary American food. Given Bliss’ experience at Silo and as a chef at Biga, this seems promising.
Also, Current food and drink reviewer of the past decade, Ron Bechtol, along with a gaggle of other local foodies (Hello, Mr. Jones!), dropped the latest guide to San Antonio dining on Saturday with the release of the Fearless Critic: San Antonio Restaurant Guide at the Twig Book Shop.
