San Antonio's downtown food scene is getting a bit sweeter with the upcoming addition of Gourdough's Public House, an Austin staple.

Slated to open on the River Walk sometime early this year, Gourdough's specializes in sugary-as-can-be donuts and variations of the sweet. Fun lunch and dinner menu items include the Mother Clucker (a take on chicken and waffles — with a donut instead of a waffle) and the Ron Burgundy (an angus beef patty and all the fixings served between two donut buns).

Oh, and there's plenty of offerings for boozehounds too. The menu includes specialty cocktails.

Gourdough's, which first opened as an Austin food truck in 2009, has gotten nods from national publications and outlets like BuzzFeed Tasty, the Travel Channel and the Food Network. The upcoming San Antonio location is the eatery's first venture outside of Austin.

"We've already received lots of positive feedback, so we're excited to see how we can grow together with the San Antonio community," said co-owner Ryan Palmer.
