Of all the second-generation post-hardcore bands to emerge during the late aughts, Emarosa was at the top of the game. With a blend of emotional boy-band melodies and glittery sounding guitar riffs, the Kentucky-based four-piece has managed to stay true to its roots while garnering a solid fan base. Former frontman Jonny Craig could sing the shit out of some high-pitched melodies but was replaced by ex-Tides of Man vocalist Tilian Pearson in 2010, and then Bradley Walden in 2014. Despite the revolving door up front, the band continues to carve its own place in post-hardcore, and its latest poppy-as-fuck single, “Givin’ Up,” further solidifies its spot in the genre.
