Happy anniversary to comedian Hannibal Buress, who celebrates his Sweet 16 as a stand-up this year. Buress started his stand-up career when he jumped on stage for an open mic event in 2002. Since then, he’s branched out into every other entertainment medium he could find — from TV and movies to podcasts and video games. Currently, he can be seen on the Comedy Central series Broad City as Lincoln Rice, a pediatric dentist who occasionally has sex with slacker Ilana Wexler (Ilana Glazer). His podcast Handsome Rambler is on its 58th episode and features interviews with heavy hitters like Jon Hamm, Chris Rock and Tiffany Haddish. You can also find Buress’ most recent stand-up special, Comedy Camisado, streaming on Netflix. In the last four years, Buress has earned roles in 11 theatrically released movies, including Neighbors, Daddy’s Home, The Disaster Artist, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Blockers and Tag. In 2014, Buress performed at a club in Philadelphia where he did an extended joke on the then-disregarded rape allegations against Bill Cosby (a subject Buress no longer talks about publicly). The routine went viral, which reignited the accusations and led to Cosby’s sexual assault conviction last April. Cosby is scheduled to be sentenced on September 24.
