It’s a hell of a night at Paper Tiger when a show like this one is the small draw. We feel for all those like us who fall right in the center of the Venn diagram of Lil B fans and Wild Moccasins fans. It’s a tough life.

On the real, though, Wild Moccasins is a splendid indie pop band from Houston with a fantastically engrossing live show. Pure pop bliss with a flair for the dramatic and a 1980s synth dark side, Wild Moccasins’ music works as well for fans of Metric as for fans of Beach House. The group comes to town supporting its excellent third LP Look Together, which came out in June.

In the supporting role on this bill, surprisingly enough, is Fitness, the new alternative/dark synth-pop duo comprised of Eve 6 (yes, that Eve 6) frontman Max Collins and former AWOLNATION keyboardist Kenny Carkeet.

$12, Fri Aug 3, 9pm, Paper Tiger, 2410 N. St. Mary’s St.,
