Inspired by Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita, Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer-winning How I Learned to Drive puts the girl behind the wheel. Told through a series of driving lessons, the memory play follows a disregarded girl through her strained sexual relationship with her aunt’s alcoholic husband. First produced nearly 20 years ago, the play, with its cartoonish Greek chorus, jumbled chronology and driver’s manual references, continues to stir new questions about power and blame. Sarah Tipton and Dallas Akins star in Trinity’s production.
