When: Wed., Dec. 7, 8-11 p.m. 2016
ATX’s Ian Moore is an intrepid musical explorer who has been actively making and playing music all over the place, since at least the early 1990s. Starting with blues roots, even though his first instrument was violin, Moore, who was once a part of the great Joe Ely’s band, crafted a sound for himself that also brings in elements of world music, psych-rock, power pop, and more avant garde elements. For this special Holiday show at 502 Bar, Moore will be joined by the likeminded musical wanderers of Demitasse for what promises to be an evening of good cheer and even better music. Moore, who has been playing acoustic Holiday shows like this in Austin and elsewhere for years, has developed quite a knack for making the cliche novel again, for making the hokey heartfelt, and for imbuing seasonal classics with the same humor, musical depth, and liveliness that is a hallmark of everything he does. In short: this is the best hipster holiday party in town this weekend.
