While San Antonians were busy battling crowds on Broadway, some of the city's best chefs were sharing our specific sazon with foodies at the Austin Food & Wine Festival.
Chef Jason Dady, a familiar face at food festivals, was one of those SA chefs, and festival-goers were clued in to his next restaurant.
On a small chalkboard, Dady and co. teased out Chispas, a cantina filled with tacos and margaritas heading to Austin this fall. The space will be on 4th Street and Lavaca and feature a tight menu of a dozen or so tacos, with no more than four ingredients.
"We'll be using Sanitary Tortilla Factory for the tortillas, and doing made-to-order chips and salsa," Dady said over the phone on Saturday.
The expansion north makes sense for last year's Iron Chef Gauntlet cheftestant who already owns Two Bros. BBQ Market, Tre Trattoria, Tre Enoteca, Shuck Shack, The Bin, Duk Truck and Range in San Antonio (though we doubt he'll stop there).
