La Liga Zine Anniversary Party

When: Fri., Sept. 30, 6:30 p.m. 2016

For the past year, La Liga Zine has been an increasingly important (and active) online outlet for discourse on a host of progressive issues — especially ones that intersect with “deconstructing Latinidad.” Specifically, La Liga seeks to showcase “Latinxs/Chicanxs/Latin Americans” that “are dissecting their cultural identities through different means of self-expression.” This Friday, as the commendable zine celebrates its one year anniversary, there will also be an unveiling of La Liga’s very first print issue. To mark the occasion properly, Pan Dulce Gallery is hosting an arty pachanga of sorts, featuring live music (from Polly Anna Rocha, Lloronas y más), unique vendors in line with La Liga’s mission (like St. Sucia, Chiflada Zine, Kayla Matta and Desert Flower Designers), and poetry performances (from Claudia Delfina, Rafael Cervantes and AnaKaren Ortiz Varela). It promises to be an evening of sublime chican@ woke-ness and art overflowing. Come to support a great cause and a swell gallery, stay for the plática and the socially conscious good time.
