Ladysmith Black Mambazo

When: Wed., March 2, 7:30 p.m. 2016

Called “South Africa’s cultural ambassadors” by Nelson Mandela, Ladysmith Black Mambazo exports a swaying and joyous form of a capella called “isicathamiya.” Unlike the vocal gymnastics of American a capella, Ladysmith Black Mambazo sing in close harmony, with voices coalescing into a whole much more powerful than its component voices. Since a supporting role on Paul Simon’s ’86 Subaru-Dad staple Graceland, the choir has maintained a global presence, promoting peace and cultural pride. Also on the bill: Grammy-winning female chorus Sweet Honey in the Rock.

Price: $26.50-$64.50
