San Antonio is abundant with queens of all types: drama, drag, necia or whatever. The title of fiercest queen however, is shared between the ladies of Las Tesoros. Inspired by Tejana singers like Lydia Mendoza and world famous Eva Garza, Las Tesoros challenged racism and sexism throughout their career which opened the doors to the generations of amazing female singers of color that would follow. Despite the passing of Janet "Perla Tapatia" Cortez - Rita Viduarri, Beatriz Llamas, and Blanca Rodríguez continue, as a trio now, the tradition of beautiful Cojunto Tejano music. A genre that was birthed right here in South Texas.
