Limelight to Reopen Under Direction of 502 Bar

  • via Facebook
Known for its green neon tenure on the St. Mary's strip, in 2015 the Limelight will be managed by Deric Wynne of the 502 Bar. Affectionately known as "The Slime," the bar at 2718 N St. Mary's will close at the end of January, reopening under 502 direction in mid-to-late March. SA music fans can only hope that Wynne and the 502 crew will bring the bitchin' sound from their bar by the airport down to the strip. According to the press release, Wynne plans to keep the Limelight as the bar's name.

Since 2006, the Limelight has hosted local and touring gigs in their long, rectangular and blissfully cheap music hall (for a brief stint in 2012-2013, the venue changed its name to the War Room). While the bar has recently been under the vision of Angel Castorena of The Korova, Castorena and The Korova team will step down to focus on the pretty polly club at 107 E Martin.

In 2015, The Korova also plans to reimagine its basement as a second Kubrick-influenced space, the soon-to-be Room 237. With The White Rabbit in new hands and planning to reopen in March, it looks to be an exciting year in the world of San Antonio music venues.
