A man was fatally shot outside his Northeast side apartment on Sunday afternoon, and the suspect is still at large, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

The shooting took place on Sunday around 1 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 5300 block of Gawain Drive. The victim has not yet been publicly identified because police need to notify his family.

Neighbors of the victim told KSAT he had only moved into the apartment one day prior.

A witness told police the victim had come out of his apartment and spoken to the suspect in the parking lot, before the suspect pulled out his gun and fired several shots at the victim.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his chest. He died after being transported to the hospital.

Police described the suspect as an African-American man approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a goatee. He was wearing a black hoodie, basketball shorts, and Jordan flip-flops. He ran from the scene of the crime on foot.
