More Food and Drink Medals You Can Get Before Fiesta


Must-have items for Fiesta: sunscreen, cash, good chanclas, breezy clothing and medals. Lots and lots of medals. Last week we shared the top 20 medals to nab if you're a foodie, and now we've got a few more you should try scoring before Fiesta starts on April 20.
The San Antonio Cocktail Conference, Bohanan's, The Palm, Esquire Tavern and Dorregos at Hotel Valencia Riverwalk (formerly VBar) will team up to unveil all of their medals during Got Medal?, an annual event. Stop by any of the bars on Tuesday, April 18, buy a cocktail and score a medal from the bar. Proceeds from the designated cocktails will go toward select charities. Bonus: Parking is free in city-owned lots and garages. 5-8pm,

Max's Wine Dive released their first medal this April and it can be yours with the purchase of their fried turkey leg, that's topped with a Cholula honey glaze, cotija and cilantro created by chef Halston Connella. Enjoy one with Boozie Barbi or drop $10 for just the medal. Buy it at 340 E. Basse Road, Suite 101.
Whole Foods Market debuted not one but two first-ever medals. Designed by a in-store graphic artists, the medals benefit Whole Kids Foundation which provides salad bar and garden grants to local San Antonio schools. The corn medal is available at Quarry store and avocado is available at the Vineyard for $10 donation each.
Finally, La Gloria and The Fruteria have released their medals, but you can get them while enjoying a $5 house Margarita or Los Pepinos Margarita at La Gloria's Dominion location on Thursday. The reception will include complimentary tacos and live music. 5-8pm, 21819 W. I-10, (210) 265-3315.
