When: Sat., Feb. 21, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. 2015
Parents and kids are invited to participate in a bookbinding workshop for young people ages 8+. Students will learn how to make blank handmade books from up-cycled materials to fill with their stories, poems or pictures. Bring scrap materials, old cereal boxes and/ or old t-shirts which will be transformed into new books. Students will learn about different styles of binding like the accordion style, Japanese punch books, and case binding. You will practice cutting and pasting fabrics onto paper as well as sewing, pressing and gluing. Students will experiment with using re-purposed materials (scrap paper, old fabrics, etc.) and every participant will take home their very own handmade book! No previous art skills required. Space is limited, so sign up early!
