Music on the Move: Asia

Release Date: 2010-02-17

Local chamber ensemble Musical Offerings will lead a virtual tour of Asia by performing compositions that correspond to the San Antonio Museum of Art’s Japanese, Chinese, and Korean Art Collections. Marty Regan, assistant professor of music at Texas A&M University, will speak about “Composing for Japanese Instruments,” before performing his original works “Voyage” and “Forest Whispers.” Since the museum is closed on Mondays, this program should provide for an intimate look at SAMA’s galleries while guests finalize their Chinese New Year’s resolutions. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes. SAMA members: $8, non-members: $12, 6pm & 8pm, pre-concert lectures at 5:15pm and 7:15pm, San Antonio Museum of Art, 200 West Jones, registration required by calling (210) 978-8151 or visiting samuseum.org.
