The corner of San Pedro and French regains a coffeeshop this week with the opening of Philoçoffee (the ç is pronounced like an s) inside the former PRESS Coffee location.
General manager Julie Butler shared details of the new French-themed shop, which will feature a custom espresso blend from What's Brewing Roasters in San Antonio made of Vienna, Red Sea and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe beans. The shop, which opens Tuesday (today), will offer espresso-based drinks, drip coffee, pour overs and French press, as well as a few specialty drinks such as the Mélange (a mix or medley in French), similar to a Frappuccino sans powders or additives, and the Shakerato, which featured an espresso shot mixed with simple syrup and shaken in a cocktail shaker until cold.
Philoçoffee will feature savory and sweet danishes and croissants from C'est La Vie Bakery in Castle Hills, and Butler says the kitchen will offer an assortment of sandwiches, soups and salads within the month.
"We're just trying to bring a neighborhood coffeeshop back to the neighborhood," Butler says.
PRESS Coffee closed its doors last October after public disagreements with their landlord over and alleged threats between said parties.
The former Rosella Coffee Co. employee says she lives in the area and was usually at PRESS on her days off. Hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
