Here’s a brassy and jazzy show that’s liable to cook as hot as the San Anto summer itself. New Breed Brass Band, a nine-piece jazz fusion outfit from the Big Easy, will bring its heady blends of old and new to town this weekend.

A jazz band with roots in the city streets and championed by all the old heads, New Breed Brass Band fuses the more traditional elements of its sound with aspects of funk, soul, rock and hip-hop for a kinetic and breathless experience that seems readymade to keep a crowd grooving. In the live setting, which is exactly where this band has so honed its chops, show-goers will find themselves rapt, engulfed in the sizzling and swerving sounds that can only be conjured by such a large group of talented jazz musicians as adventurous as they are steeped in tradition.

$10-$45, Fri Jun 29, 8pm, Sam’s Burger Joint, 330 E. Grayson St., (210) 223-2830, samsburgerjoint.com.
