Where we come from shapes who we are, and how others see us. Home gives us a sense of belonging and stability. It’s so much more than just a physical structure. It’s our safety, our refuge, our launch pad. Yet, so many people in the U.S. face housing instability and homelessness. A shocking 76 percent of Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck. They are just one accident or injury away from losing everything. Narrated by singer-songwriter Jewel, the documentary film Our Journey Home sheds light on real-life stories of people touched by public housing as they strive to support their families, further their education, give back to their communities, and have a place to call home. Presented by the San Antonio Housing Authority and the ReThink: Why Housing Matters initiative in conjunction with DreamWeek, this special screening event includes a Q&A panel with SAHA interim president and CEO David Nisivoccia and former public housing resident Jessica Trevino.
