Overtime Theater Debuts One-man Show of Aleister Crowley's Life

Aleister Crowley, simultaneously one of the most adored and reviled figures in the realms of esoteric philosophy and occultism, was a consummate dabbler with a fiercely penetrating mind and an uncanny ability for interesting (if not always useful) thought and writing outside of the margins of mainstream academic and spiritual currents.

The British Crowley, who lived a robust and far-flung life from 1875 to 1947, was no mere ponderer of the world’s mysteries, either. He was an adventurer, a world traveler, a mountaineer and a great appreciator of world cultures, in addition to his work as a sought-after mystic, novelist and poet. Needless to say, dude was quite the personality.

In a special, limited engagement show this weekend, that personality and some of the man’s strange but provocative visions of the world will be on full display, as solo theater artist and regular Current contributor Jade Esteban Estrada explores Crowley’s life and legacy through a mixture of song, dance and stand-up comedy.

$15, Fri Jun 29 & Sat Jun 30, 10:30pm, The Overtime Theater, 5409 Bandera Road, Suite 205, (210) 557-7562,
