WITH ECHO SQUAD
Thursday, March 6
Heavily influenced by Madness ("They're one of the best ska bands of all time"), Operation Ivy, and the Descendents, Yellow "has a lot more energy and drive," exposing more "yeah yeah yeah" and less "hep hep hep" than Pray for Mojo. Although no new releases are slated for 2003, the response to Yellow has been evident in packed beer-sloshed shows - most recently while touring the U.K.
Van went on to disconfirm the rumor that foreigners are better looking then Texans. "Barely one out of five `Brits` are good looking," he says. "It's those teeth." The conversation took a turn for the scandalous when Van divulged the details of spending nearly a month in a small-town slammer up north for public intoxication. "It was an alcohol-related arrest, and uh ... hash." Although his signature punk-band-on-tour act of swallowing baggies may be long over, Van plans to run the house down on Thursday, March 6, with "lots of beer, lots of partying, and lots of dancing." •
