Pastie Pops Promise to ‘Make the Summer Even Hotter’ with Sunday Sizzler

Always strong contenders in the Current’s annual Best of San Antonio readers’ poll, the fun-loving and body-positive Pastie Pops keep burlesque fans titillated year-round with festive spectacles that follow seasonal themes (from All Hallows’ Tease to Christmas Burrr-lesque) and routinely showcase visiting talent from across Texas and beyond. Challenging the Lone Star State’s notoriously infernal temperatures, the troupe aims to “make the summer even hotter” with a steamy new show combining classic and neo-burlesque with drag, boylesque, hoop artistry, music and comedy. Hosted by provocatively named sexpot Camille Toe, the 2016 edition of The Pastie Pops Burlesque and Variety Show sees troupe members old and new — namely Mary Annette, Vixy Van Hellen, Jasper St. James, Elle Du Jour, Maxxy Radd, Vesper Voltaire, Lucy Lips and Femme Lee Jules — “throwing caution to the wind” in the cozy confines of The Overtime Theater. Sponsored by Southtown’s Sexology Institute and Boutique, the Sunday sizzler doubles as a fan appreciation night with half-price tickets to boot — get ‘em while they’re hot. $10, VIP seating ($25) includes a front-row seat, a Pastie Pops and Sexology Institute and Boutique swag bag and a meet-and-greet/photo op with the entire cast, doors at 6pm, show at 7pm Sun, The Overtime Theater, 1203 Camden St., (210) 557-7562,
