Art

Phase II

When: Fri., Jan. 8, 7-10 p.m. and Mondays-Sundays. Continues through Jan. 30 2016

This exhibition encompasses paintings and drawings from Artist, Calvin J. Pressley. Through these works Calvin has explored the essence of titles and labels given to objects, symbols or people. With his use of various objects, found media and paint, Pressley has developed textured layers that create a body and skin to the abstract paintings, eventually voiding the immediacy of the media used. The media and subjects used co-evolve into mark making that dance across the canvas. Calvin has stated that his intent with these paintings were to create works that would further evolve beyond himself. With this exhibition the viewer would interpret the abstractions based on their own feelings and emotions, thus creating another phase of evolution in the work. A subsequent phase to Calvin’s time in the studio. Gallery Hours are by appointment.
