Pick of the Day: Sheer Bloody Lunacy!

comment
sheer bloody

The 1965 Italian gothic horror movie Bloody Pit of Horror, allegedly based on the writings of the Marquis de Sade, is the springboard for Sheer Bloody Lunacy! — a cabaret-horror-comedy-musical adapted for the stage by Jon Gillespie. True to the film (which stars Mr. Universe 1955 Mickey Hargitay as a musclebound lunatic possessed by the spirit of a 17th-century sadist) the play follows the trespassing crew of a photoshoot into a seemingly abandoned castle equipped with a dungeon-full of torture devices overseen by the Crimson Executioner. Brought to Boneshakers by PUB-Lick Theatre Productions for two nights only, the musical features a live disco-rock soundtrack created by Phillip Luna and promises “lingerie models, blood, half-naked men, fight scenes, hilarious choreography, weird effects, and, a ludicrous plot.” $10; 10:30pm Fri, Oct 26; Boneshakers Tap House and Pizzeria, 306 Austin, (210) 319-8155, boneshakersonline.com.
