Quealy Watson, former chef at The Monterey (1127 S St. Mary's) left the helm several weeks ago. But back in town for a visit, he's returning to the kitchen for two Monday night dinners (August 13 and 20). The menu will be market-driven with a handful of courses for $25. There will be no reservations, so if you want to be a part of these dinners get there before 7:30 p.m. for one of roughly 25 available seats. Beer and wine will be extra, and owner Chad Carey will be pouring some of his favorites. Given how many turned out for Quealy's farewell dinner, these Monday dinners will surely be sold out.
There are a few major farmers markets in town, but for those in the outer suburbs, options are limited. At Rackspace's headquarters in Windcrest (5000 Walzem), they've started offering a Wednesday farmers market for employees and the public. Check 'em out 4-7 p.m. Wednesdays under a tent in the company parking lot. Vendors include Uncertain Farms, Greenling, Hartman Farms, Koch Ranches and Grandma's Garden.
