Bond’s 007 Rock Bar, that bastion of all that made rock music in the 1990s both good and terrible, is always giving us great nostalgia acts from a time period that many of us would like to forget. But the place knows what it is and knows its audience — and that’s always an admirable thing.

This weekend, rock aficionados can look forward to another precisely on-brand show at Bond’s, this time featuring local acts Pigweed and Astray Thru Eternity. Pigweed, which has been rocking shows in S.A. for damn nigh 10 years, makes alternative/nu-metal music that eschews much of that genre’s typical melodicism for noise and instrumental exploration. There are also elements of prog as well as Southern rock to Pigweed’s sound. Astray Thru Eternity, meanwhile, makes loud, abrasive, barking heavy metal that most often falls into the category of deathcore or metalcore.

$5, Fri Jan. 11, 8:30pm, Bonds 007 Rock Bar, 450 Soledad St., (210) 225-0007, bonds007rockbar.com.
