Hailing from New Orleans by way of Austin, Bill Moran – known as Good Ghost Bill in slam and spoken word circles – is currently on an international tour promoting his latest collection of poetry, Oh God Get Out. Published by the celebrated indie press Write Bloody Publishing, the book is an incredibly intricate mapping of the dark and light places filling these haunted bodies of ours. Sometimes painful but always moving and accessible, Moran’s poetry has recently reached the far recesses of the internet via Button Poetry’s viral spoken-word videos Moran was the 2012 and 2013 Austin Poetry Slam Champion, had a hand in creating the slam haven Mic Check Poetry in Bryan–College Station and is currently an MFA poetry candidate at Louisiana State University. An esteemed member of the modern poetry movement and former medic, Moran has some stories to tell. Hosted by the Blah Poetry Spot, Moran’s feature on the St. Mary’s Strip follows a poetry open mic – bring poems to share or just your tissues and best spoken-word snaps. Free, 8-10:30pm Mon, Jul. 3, Jandro’s Patio Garden, 2623 N. St Mary's St., facebook.com/blahpoetryspot.
