River City Wrestling presents live pro wrestling, Declaration of Champions!

Critic's Pick Release Date: 2010-06-30

I’ve been ignoring River City Wrestling long enough. Or maybe it’s just taken me almost a year to come to terms with the fact that: every month, wrestlers with names like Big Dogg, Skitzo, Nemesis, Sicodelico Jr., Weazy Woo, Mr. Beautiful, and El Mamacito (aka Ann Dromeda, a 210-pound drag queen whose favorite move is “The Sleeping Beauty”) wage war in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. I wonder who the Good Shepherd will be rooting for in Saturday’s “Battle of the Sexes 2,” in which RCW Champion Joey “Super Shot” Spector (who‘ll be assisted by the lovely Lady Fantasy) battles TNA (Total Non-Stop Action) superstar Alissa Flash (who defeated Spector last April)? Surely the church’s namesake wouldn’t approve of a “Bodybag Match” being fought in the House of the Lord, or Skam-13’s horrifying mask (one of RCW’s token luchadores). But since Declaration of Champions is all-ages, it might be just the way you’d like to spend Independence Day weekend with your family, and a perfect excuse for skipping church on Sunday. Front row: $15; general admission: $8-$10; children under three: free, 8pm, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1630 Goliad,
