Here’s SA's chance to claim a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records: the San Antonio Parks and Recreation is shooting for “The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson.”

The record to beat is 19,322 participants, assembled by Team WLSL in 2011. Headquartered in Disney's Typhoon Lagoon in Orlando, Florida, the swim lesson was held in 331 venues worldwide.

Of course, the main point is to raise awareness of the vital necessity for children to learn to swim. The outdoor public pool season opens June 14. This free lesson is for youth, ages 4 and up and will be held on Friday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at the following pools:

Concepcion, 600 E. Theo;

Dellview, 500 Basswood Dr.;

Heritage, 1423 S. Ellison Dr.;

Lady Bird Johnson, 10700 Nacogdoches;

Kennedy, 3299 S.W. 28th St.;

Lincoln, 2803 E. Commerce;

New Territories, 9023 Bowen Dr.;

Spring Time, 6571 Spring Time;

and Woodlawn, 221 Alexander Ave.
