Curated by David Freeman, the Brownsville Museum of Art’s new exhibition “Seeing the Unseen” unites four accomplished San Antonio artists who “exemplify the idea of design and construction through the theater of surprise and the unexpected.” Exploring “regional and global issues of family, addiction, technology and agriculture,” the group show comprises textile-based wall pieces and installations by Jesse Amado, “un-stretched painted constructions” by Joey Fauerso, photographs, paintings and installation by Chris Sauter, and monumental sculptures by Riley Robinson. On view through January 19, “Seeing the Unseen” is both an excellent excuse for a road trip that doubles as a show of support for the arts in San Antonio and Brownsville alike.
