San Antonio Named One of the Best U.S. Cities to Retire

While Florida is known as a haven for retirees, it turns out that Texas is also a pretty attractive state to settle down in after retirement.

US News & World Report recently ranked 2019's best cities in America to retire to, and six Texas cities made the top 50 list. Only Florida, with nine cities, had more. Pennsylvania was close behind Texas with five cities, although Lancaster did top the list.

The six Lone Star State cities included McAllen (28), Houston (26), El Paso (11), Dallas (9), San Antonio (8) and Austin (4).

Based on a 10-point scale, considering housing affordability, happiness, desirability, retiree taxes and healthcare quality, San Antonio had an overall score of 7. Housing affordability scored ranked at 7 and healthcare at 5.4.
