If you love pets but can't commit to adopting a new furry family member, the Headin' Home transport program may interest you. The program at San Antonio Pets Alive! lets residents foster dogs for a short amount of time, anywhere from a week to three months, while they wait to be transported to areas of the U.S. where overpopulation is not a problem and there are forever homes waiting for them.

Right now, the local pet organization has some dogs that are waiting to head up north, where they are often adopted within two weeks. As part of the "Home for the Holidays" promotion, SAPA! is asking for local residents to consider fostering a dog until Monday, December 17. Take a look and see if any of these doggos catch your eye, and head to SAPA! to find out more.

The temp foster sleepover program is sponsored by Maddie's Fund. If interested in fostering, you can email If you cannot commit to fostering a dog, you can sponsor a dog's transport or boarding at
