San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Lakers

When: Sat., March 3, 8 p.m. 2018

Once regarded as one of the most dynamic rivalries in pro basketball, Spurs versus Lakers lost much of its luster when Los Angeles regressed from playoff contender to lottery team. Currently standing outside the post-season picture, the Lakers have primarily made headlines for moves made off the court. Los Angeles recently traded San Antonio standout Jordan Clarkson and high-flyer Larry Nance Jr. to the Cleveland Cavaliers for two-time All-Star Isaiah Thomas and stretch-four Channing Frye. San Antonio unsurprisingly stood pat at the trade deadline, electing to wait on the return of injured forwards Kawhi Leonard and Rudy Gay to impact the NBA roster for the second half of the season. Prior to the All-Star break, Leonard appeared in only nine contests, and the Spurs fielded their full lineup for just one game. A healthy squad is paramount for San Antonio as they jockey for position in a crowded Western Conference playoff race.
