San Antonio Will Hold Inaugural Museum Month in October

Mayor Ron Nirenberg announced Tuesday that San Antonio will hold its first city-wide Museum Month, bringing special events and promotions for residents.

If you're a member of one of the participating museums, you can explore the other museums for free or at a discounted rate. The museums include Artpace San Antonio, Blue Star Contemporary, Briscoe Western Art Museum, Doseum, UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures, McNay Art Museum, San Antonio Botanical Garden, San Antonio Missions National Historical Park (aka the missions), San Antonio Museum of Art, Southwest School of Art and Witte Museum.

There are some admission restrictions (limited to certain days), so be sure to check the Museum Month website before heading out.

A press release from VIA, who is partnering with the city, said the Museum Month will continue in 2018 in honor of San Antonio's tricentennial celebration.

If you're looking to have a jam-packed day full of arts and creativity, you're in luck. VIA is making your life (and parking situation!) easier with free rides on the VIVA culture (11), VIVA missions (40) and VIVA centro (301) routes on Saturdays throughout October.
