- PleasureFaces (front) and Galacticat (back) are Calico Club.
The duo’s debut EP, 2014‘s Permanent Night, was among our favorite local releases the year it came out, and for good reason. The brief debut’s noir energy is laced with alternate proclamations of empowerment and abandon, perfectly mirroring the club scene for which it was created. With the video for EP standout “King of the Streets,” made in collaboration with the rad dance/music/art/fashion collective House of Kenzo, PleasureFaces played the role of the titular king, running shit like a boss.
Plus: the duo's live shows are immersive, audio-visual experiences, sensual and sensational (in a hip and understated kind of way, of course). And, well, generally speaking, we think Calico Club is pretty damn badass.
Which is why we are as stoked as anyone that the outfit dropped its latest effort, the Your Body and the Beat EP, online Thursday.

Favorite track so far: the booming extended trip of "Red Chandelier."
Check out the EP below and keep an eye out for the Club to return home for a celebratory show of some sort soon.
