Looking for a good excuse to go out on a Monday? At Café Rev, catch an excellent duo of out-of-town bands. LA’s Santoros makes mildly frenetic, twangy, psychedelic folk. Cali to the bone, the group’s sound also rewardingly incorporates elements of surf. Portland’s Psychomagic (above), repping LA’s rad Lollipop Records, makes rollicking, sometimes punkishly sped-up, 1960s-worshipping psychedelic rock. There’s also a sense of playfulness to Psychomagic’s music, which keeps the vibes from getting unnecessarily heavy, even as some of their songs tackle pretty dark subjects. SA’s The Beers and The Oblio’s round out the bill.
