When: Wed., Dec. 13, 8 p.m.
Before there was the Dirty South, there was Scarface, the original Southern thug rapper. As part of the Houston rap group the Geto Boys, Scarface has seen his share of success and notoriety. It’s true, the Geto Boys always gathered a disproportionate amount of attention from white people because of Bushwick Bill — perhaps because he’s a little person with an eye patch — but no one can deny Scarface’s importance as a lyricist. Though he never found huge mainstream success, his credibility has never been questioned, having worked with hip-hop luminaries such as 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Master P, and Ice Cube. Also on the bill is “Sittin’ Sidewayz” rapper Paul Wall and Slim Thug who’s best known for his contribution to Mike Jones’ “Still Tippin’.”
