Release Date: 2008-05-21

The annual collaboration between the Magik Theatre and ARTS San Antonio is back with The Tempest, set this year in a galaxy far, far away. The futuristic version of this tale of revenge, lust for power, colonialism, the nature of freedom, and the human capacity for forgiveness is Shakespeare-meets-psychedelic sci-fi. Shakespeare in the Park has brought San Antonians of all ages together to experience Shakespeare’s characters and stories since 2005, playing host to more than 28,000 people. Make reservations for the opening-night Premier Performance and AfterGlow party — for $25, you’ll enjoy food and drinks at 6:30 p.m., followed by a reserved seated performance and cast mingling after the show. $25 May 21, free May 22-24, Botanical Gardens, 555 Funston,
(210) 227-2751.
